Giulio Zaccaro

Scientific Responsible

Architect, Associate Professor of “Construction Science” and “Structural Theory” at the University of Naples Federico II and Scientific Director of the PLINIVS Study Centre.
He was the founder of the Regional School of Civil Protection in Campania (2001), of which he was Director from 2001 to 2015.
Since 2012 he has been a member of the Major Risks Commission of the Department of Protection Italian Civil Protection (DPC).
As a consultant to the regional and national civil protection, he is a member of the working group for the redevelopment of the civil protection plans of Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei.
Over the last 30 years he has been involved in several national and international research projects in the context of seismic, volcanic and hydrogeological risk assessment, emergency planning and decision support, impact damage scenarios and models of risk, with particular reference to vulnerability.
He is the author of over 150 articles.

Francesco Cacace

Senior Researcher

Architect and PhD in Seismic Risk, adjunct professor and teacher of “Construction Science” and “Structural Theory” at the University of Naples Federico II. He has been carrying out research activities within the PLINIVS Study Center since 1990 in the field of seismic, volcanic and hydrogeological risk.

Mattia Leone

Research Fellow

Architect and PhD in Architectural Technology. He is currently a contract professor at the “Urban and Landscape Regeneration Studio” at the Polytechnic of Milan and a research fellow at the University of Naples Federico II at the PLINIVS-LUPT Study Center.
Since 2013 is a member of the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) and has been associated with the Center for Urban Disaster Risk and Resilience (CUDRR+R, New York) since 2015.
His main research activities concern sustainable design, energy and technological adaptation of buildings and public spaces, the construction of technologies for the mitigation of natural risks and adaptation to climate change.

Daniela De Gregorio

Research Fellow

Structural engineer and PhD in construction engineering. He is currently a research fellow at the University of Naples Federico II at the PLINIVS-LUPT Study Center. His main research activities concern the analysis of the vulnerability of buildings due to natural risks .

Stefano Nardone

IT consultant

IT consultant for software analysis and development and GIS specialist. Its main activities concern the development of probabilistic GIS-based models and tools for risk analysis regarding natural risks, multi-hazards and cascading effects.

Francesca Linda Perelli

PhD Student

Engineer and PhD student in Structural, Geotechnical and Seismic Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II. He carries out research at the PLINIVS-LUPT Study Center on the topic of the vulnerability of buildings to seismic, hydrogeological and volcanic risks.

Francesca Gallinella

Research Fellow

Graduated in environmental sustainability and civil protection with a II level Master’s degree in “Joint Energy and Environment Management in Italy and Mediterranean Area”. He currently has a scholarship at the PLINIVS-LUPT Study Center. Its main areas of application concern emergency management in the context of natural and technological risks, with particular reference to industrial risk, including cascade effects and NaTech risks.

Casimiro Martucci

Research Fellow

Architect. Specializing in Architectural Heritage and Landscape at the University of Naples Federico II. During his internship at the IRISS Institute of the CNR he worked on the project “Estudio de la Amenaza Sísmica y Vulnerabilidad Física del Gran Santo Domingo”. He currently has a scholarship at the PLINIVS-LUPT Study Center. His main areas of research concern sustainable design, cultural heritage, retrofitting of built heritage and public spaces against the impacts of natural disasters and climate change.
